Mission¤

The Experience Committee is dedicated to creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for all attendees, both in-person and remote. Our goal is to organize fun social events, ensure attendees are aware of after-conference activities, and create opportunities for remote participants to feel engaged and included.

Committee Structure¤

Chair¤

The Chair(s) of the Experience Committee are responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of all social events, after-conference activities, and remote engagement efforts. They will coordinate with other committees to ensure alignment on hybrid event strategies and manage the team to create a positive, fun experience for all attendees.

Members¤

A team of committee members who will help plan, organize, and execute both in-person and virtual activities, ensuring that everyone—whether attending physically or remotely—has a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Responsibilities¤

  • Organize Social Events:
    Plan and host engaging social events that bring the community together, providing opportunities for networking and fun outside of the formal sessions.

  • Coordinate After-Conference Activities:
    Point attendees toward exciting after-conference activities, ensuring they have plenty of options to continue connecting with others and exploring the city.

  • Engage Remote Participants:
    Ensure remote attendees are not forgotten by organizing virtual networking or social activities that allow them to connect and feel a part of the event, even from afar.

  • Hybrid Event Facilitation:
    Work with other committees to coordinate both in-person and virtual activities, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants, regardless of how they attend.

  • Create a Welcoming Atmosphere:
    Make sure that all participants, whether in-person or remote, feel welcome and included in every aspect of the conference, from social events to casual interactions.

  • Assist with Event Announcements:
    Collaborate with the Communications Committee to ensure all social and after-conference activities are well-publicized, both before and during the event.

Responsibilities for Chair(s)¤

  • Lead virtual meetings with the Experience Committee.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all social and after-conference activities.
  • Ensure both in-person and remote attendees are included and have engaging activities to participate in.
  • Work closely with other committees, especially Communications, to promote events.
  • Be present on-site at PyCon DE & PyData 2025 to manage in-person activities and ensure everything runs smoothly.

Workload¤

The workload for the Experience Committee will vary depending on the proximity to the conference.

  • Preparations: a few hours per week
  • Conference: organize and execute plans.
